The St. Paul Saints swept a four-game series on the road against the Louisville Bats coming out of last week’s break and were returning home to CHS Field.

Columbus made the return a sour one.

The Clippers scored two runs in each of the first three innings on the way to a 13-2 victory against St. Paul on Tuesday.

Matt Bowman started on the mound for the Saints and lasted just 1 2/3 innings. He allowed four runs on four hits and a walk. Grant Hartwig relieved Bowman and gave up two runs in 1 1/3 innings. After a scoreless inning from Cole Sands, Marco Raya then surrendered three runs while getting just two outs.

Noah Cardenas hit his eighth homer of the year for St. Paul in the third, and Orlando Arcia hit his 12th homer in the ninth.

The series continues Wednesday at 1:07 p.m. CDT.
