SEATTLE — The Seattle Mariners are looking to string together a series of wins coming off a potential momentum-building series win against the San Francisco Giants over the weekend.

A potential buoy to the Mariners' hopes is the possibility that a lot of notable contributors, including utility player Brendan Donovan and several high-leverage relievers, are working their ways back and nearing return from injuries.

Unfortunately, Seattle could have added another name to its list of injuries in a game against the Cincinnati Reds on Monday at T-Mobile Park.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, the two sides were deadlocked 0-0 due to quality outings from Mariners starter George Kirby and Reds starter Andrew Abbott.

Neither side was able to get much in terms of offense. Cincinnati had put up three hits and Seattle had two at the time.

As the Mariners began the bottom of the fifth, outfielder Victor Robles got on-base with a lead-off single and advanced to third via a stolen base and a throwing error.

Left fielder Randy Arozarena was walked several hitters later, setting Seattle up with runners on the corners and two outs.

Center fielder Julio Rodriguez stepped to the plate and connected for a hard-hit chopper.

The hit was scooped by Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz, who misfired the throw to first base. Rodriguez was credited with an infield RBI single and gave Seattle a 1-0 lead.

However, Rodriguez's hit didn't come without a drawback.

After Rodriguez's hit, the Mariners had one hitter step to the plate, designated hitter Dominic Canzone, who struck out swinging to end the inning.

Before the sixth inning commenced, Rodriguez was checked by trainers in the dugouts and was pulled from the game. Robles moved from right to center field and Weston Wilson entered the game in right field.

Despite being hit on the hamstring with a pitch, manager Dan Wilson said in a postgame interview that Rodriguez was pulled due to his hard run to first rather than being hit by the pitch.

If Rodriguez is out for any period of time, it would be his second time this month missing time after being hit by a throw.

Rodriguez was on the concussion injured list from July 3-July 18 after being hit in the back of the head by a throw while running to second base.

Wilson described it was a "quick decision" to pull Rodriguez, but said he and the training staff felt it was best given his recent IL stint.

There's no concern of a potential hamstring strain, per Wilson.
