The United States and Israel attacked Iran on Feb. 28, starting a monthslong war that has spread to neighboring countries, halted oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz and rattled the global economy.

The war was not, at least at first, about the strait. Tankers and other ships sailed freely there before the war. In launching strikes, President Trump cited Iran’s nuclear program and a desire to topple the theocratic regime. Since then, his efforts to end the war have faltered, mostly around the question of how to get Iran to open up the strait.

As the conflict nears the six-month mark, we want to hear from our readers.

What questions do you have about the state of the war? Are you concerned about its impact near you? Are you wondering about the options for Washington, Tehran or even other countries in the region? Send us your questions, and we will take them to our correspondents in the Middle East, Washington and elsewhere.

We’ll pick a few questions for our reporters to answer in The World. If we decide to publish your question, we’ll reach out to you.
