The San Jose Sharks have hired a new assistant general manager.

The Sharks announced Jeff Kealty as AGM on Friday.

According to the team press release, Kealty “will oversee the team’s professional scouting staff and work closely with Grier on all aspects of Hockey Operations.”

Kealty will join Tom Holy and Joe Will as Sharks assistant general managers. Kealty replaces Ryane Clowe, who left the team last off-season.

“Jeff brings a wealth of professional experience to our club, and he will be a valuable addition to our hockey operations staff,” San Jose Sharks GM Mike Grier said.

Kealty, 50, has been with the Nashville Predators for over two decades. He just completed his eighth season as AGM and Director of Scouting, where he oversaw the team’s professional and amateur scouting.

Kealty headed Nashville’s previous 18 drafts, going back to 2008. Among Kealty’s picks were Yaroslav Askarov, Luke Evangelista, Samuel Girard, Kevin Fiala, Viktor Arvidsson, Seth Jones, Juuse Saros, Mattias Ekholm, and Roman Josi.

Kealty started as a Predators amateur scout from 2001 to 2007 and chief amateur scout from 2007 to 2017.

He was also Team USA GM in the 2025 World Championships, winning a gold medal with current San Jose Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky.

Kealty and Grier were Boston University teammates from 1994 to 1996. Kealty was a Quebec Nordiques’ first-round pick in 1994.

In Kealty, the Sharks are adding high-end playing and operations experience to complement Will and Holy.

“I’ve known Jeff since our days together at Boston University, and it’s exciting to be able to work with him again,” Grier said.
