Sinjar — Part 8: Teachers and Educators

The Syriac and Armenian teachers and educators in Sinjar formed a bright page in the history of education and community service. With their knowledge and educational mission, they contributed to building educated generations while consolidating knowledge, openness and coexistence among the people of Sinjar.

These educators carried the message of education with sincerity. Their profession was not merely a job, but a humanitarian and national service that left a clear impact on the lives of students and the Sinjar society. Their presence was an extension of the historical role of our people’s craftsmen, professionals and skilled individuals, who contributed to the renaissance and development of Sinjar and lived there alongside its various components in a spirit of love, cooperation, and peace.

Documenting the names of the Syriac and Armenian teachers and educators who served in the schools of Sinjar is a tribute to their giving, a preservation of an important part of the city’s educational and social memory and an introduction for new generations to the men and women who made knowledge a message and the school a home for building the future.
