State baseball: St. Thomas Academy downs Delano in 3A quarters

The fifth-seeded Cadets surrendered three earned runs to Delano’s two, yet St Thomas Academy moved into Friday’s state semifinals via a 7-3 victory largely thanks to four Delano errors.

The Cadets trailed 1-0 through three innings Thursday, but took the lead in the fourth on a single from Brody Cashill that plated a pair.
St. Thomas Academy broke the game open with four runs, all unearned, in the fifth frame. The inning was highlighted by a bases-clearing double off the bat of Elliot Olsen.
The contest wrapped around 11:30 p.m. after rain delayed the Class 3A tournament schedule on Thursday.
