Steelers QB Drew Allar among final rookies unsigned

In just over one week, the Pittsburgh Steelers will gather at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe for training camp. There's a palpable level of excitement with new head coach Mike McCarthy in charge and all the new players in place. One player, however, still isn't on schedule to be at training camp and that's rookie quarterback Drew Allar.

Allar is one of six rookies who still haven't signed their rookie contracts. You can see the full list here.

We assume Allar and his representatives are holding out to see what the Arizona Cardinals give Carson Beck in terms of guaranteed money before they commit to anything with the Steelers. Four of the six unsigned rookies are quarterbacks including No. 1 overall pick, Fernando Mendoza.

Allar finds himself in a position battle with second-year quarterback Will Howard. Howard was the better quarterback in minicamp which means Allar cannot afford to miss any reps in training camp over a contract dispute as the Steelers try to rebuild his game from the ground up after drafting him in the third round of the 2027 NFL Draft.
