Phoenix Suns conclude NBA Summer League with loss to San Antonio Spurs
The Phoenix Suns concluded NBA Summer League action July 18 with a 86-81 loss to the San Antonio Spurs at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
The Spurs (4-1) ended Summer League on a four-game win streak after losing their opener to the Atlanta Hawks while the Suns (3-2) had their two-game win streak snapped.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementDevin Askew paced Phoenix with 20 points. The Suns scored just 10 points in the third quarter in falling behind, 61-53, going into the fourth quarter.
The Suns rested Khaman Maluach, Rasheer Fleming, rookie Koa Peat and Darius Brown II. CJ Huntley sat out due to a right hamstring injury and missed all five Summer League games.

The Suns outscored the San Antonio Spurs by 11 points in the second quarter in taking a 43-39 halftime lead.
Javonte Cooke had a team-high 10 points to lead the Suns at the break.
Phoenix rested Maluach, Fleming, Peat and Brown II.
Huntley, a two-way player, also sat out as he's missed all Summer League with a right hamstring injury.

The Suns sat Maluach, Fleming, Peat and Brown II for Saturday's final game.
Maluach averaged at team-high 19.5 points and 12.8 rebounds while Peat is second on the team in scoring at 16.5 points a game in four games.
Koby Brea played in Saturday's game as he started the previous four along with Maluach, Fleming, Peat and Brown II.
The Suns started Corey Camper Jr., Javonte Cooke, Jake Stephens, Brea and Askew.
