A rain delay can set a game back by hours, but a bee delay?

It happened on April 30, 2024, as the Arizona Diamondbacks were getting ready to face their National League West rivals, the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Before the first pitch could be thrown, though, both teams found themselves at the mercy of thousands of tiny winged insects.

A bee colony that had set up on the netting behind home plate delayed their game by nearly two hours.

The Diamondbacks would go on to win the game 4-3 in 10 innings, but the hero of the night was bee tamer Matt Hilton of Blue Sky Pest Control.

Hilton, who suited up and soon had the bees unceremoniously removed, went on to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
