Texas A&M legend Myles Garrett sweeps major ESPY awards

Texas A&M Hall of Famer Myles Garrett is one of the rare players who not only lives up to his potential but sustains it long enough to enter an entirely different tier of greatness. Longevity, dominance and record-setting production have defined his career, and at the 2026 ESPY Awards he added more hardware to a résumé that already screams Canton.

Garrett’s 2025 season earned him his first trophy of the night, the Best Record-Breaking Performance, for his 23-sack campaign that surpassed the previous record of 22 1/2 by Michael Strahan and T. J. Watt. Several teams made it a point late in the year to prevent him from breaking the record. Fittingly, he sealed it with a sack of Joe Burrow in a moment that instantly became part of NFL history.

Garrett didn’t just break records last season. He was the most dominant defensive force in football. Had he been on a playoff team, he might have pushed his way into the MVP finalist conversation. He set personal bests in solo tackles (43), sacks (23) and tackles for loss (33). He led the league in both sacks and TFLs. That dominance earned him the ESPY for Best NFL Player.

At this point, there isn’t a major defensive award that Garrett hasn't claimed during the regular season. Now he is with the Los Angeles Rams, where playoff expectations and opportunities for even bigger accolades are the norm.
