Texas Longhorns basketball lose junior guard to foot injury

">

While the 2026-2027 college basketball season is still weeks away, the Texas Longhorns' depth is already being tested. Junior guard Mikey Lewis suffered a fracture in the fifth metatarsal in his right foot earlier this week in practice, according to the University of Texas. The injury is not expected to be season-ending, but Lewis will miss some time after surgery on Thursday. Because of Lewis's injury, his Longhorns debut will be pushed back. The Oakland native joined Sean Miller's team in the offseason after entering the transfer portal. He began his college career at Saint Mary's, where he spent two seasons and appeared in 68 games. During that stretch, he was a reliable scorer and took his game to another level as a sophomore.
