Georgia is 49-12 entering a super regional series with Mississippi State June 6-8 at Foley Field.

Phelps said after Georgia lost in the NCAA regionals last year he wanted to “definitely leave this program in a much better spot.”

Here are three things to know about Phelps, the junior third baseman.

Don’t sleep on Tre Phelps’ productivity

The 6-foot-2, 197-pound Phelps hasn’t put up numbers as big as teammate Daniel Jackson this season, but the Atlanta native was a first-team All-SEC selection who is also among the conference’s leaders this season.

He enters the super regional weekend third in the SEC in batting average at .370, fourth in on-base percentage at .490 and second in runs scored with 77 and hits with 84. He has 19 homers after hitting 12 in 2024 and 10 in 2025.

Phelps also has been hit by a pitch a school record 34 times this season.

Phelps brings electricity to Bulldogs

Phelps plays with swagger and a flashy personality.

That can rub some people the wrong way. Braves legend Chipper Jones took to social media last year to criticize players leaving jersey buttons opened low. This year Phelps wears a shirt underneath his jersey.

Phelps was suspended for game 1 of the Super Regional after he was ejected for taunting after a two-run, sixth inning homer put Georgia up for good in a clinching win against Liberty on May 31.

Phelps keeps it light around the team. He often is in the background cutting up while teammates are doing media interviews.

Phelps is next up from the family to be drafted

Phelps was draft-eligible in 2025 but was not selected. After raising his game this season, Phelps is ranked by Baseball America as the No. 115 overall prospect.

She was the No. 20 overall pick in the WNBA Draft in 2010 by the Los Angeles Sparks.

She finished her college career ranked fifth in program history in rebounding, fourth in blocked shots and 25th in scoring. She was a second-team All-SEC coaches pick in 2009 when she led the conference in rebounding.
