The Yankees won a nailbiter to open their lengthy road trip on Friday, narrowly holding onto the 1-0 lead that Paul Goldschmidt got them with a solo blast in the fourth inning thanks to an ace performance from Cam Schlittler. Schlittler tossed 7.1 innings and struck out a dozen batters, allowing just three hits without any walks against his record to further his Cy Young case, and the bullpen stepped into his shoes and kept the line moving. Brent Headrick entered and allowed a single that loaded the bases in the eighth but averted a crisis by getting two-straight outs, and David Bednar worked a 1-2-3 ninth.

Now they’ll look to take the series outright and perhaps start a little run, though we don’t know who they’ll be facing on the mound tonight.
