Florida head coach Todd Golden is quickly becoming one of college basketball's brightest young coaches, and his rise has CBS Sports writers David Cobb, Cameron Salerno and Isaac Trotter wondering whether the NBA could eventually come calling.

Following Dusty May's transition from the Michigan Wolverines to the NBA with the Dallas Mavericks, CBS Sports named Golden a top name, along with Duke's Jon Scheyer, with the potential to be an NBA head coach.

Golden's stock rose following Florida's March Madness tournament run in 2025. Since his title run has done nothing but win, adding an SEC championship to his resume while being the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Under Golden, Florida is expected to continue contending for the SEC title and a Final Four appearance, further elevating his profile.

The authors add that Golden has already completed impressive feats in his early career as the Gators' head coach, most notably winning a national championship without a top-100 recruit for the first time in the modern era, which further establishes him as a prominent figure within the sport.

Ultimately, Golden previously reassured that he is planning on coaching the program for the foreseeable future; however, his name is undoubtedly in the conversations amongst NBA circles.
