Ukraine struck two Russian oil refineries overnight, including a facility in the republic of Bashkortostan more than 1,400 kilometres from the front line.

Bashkortostan Governor Radiy Khabirov said on Telegram on Tuesday that the attack hit an industrial area in the city of Salavat.

"There are several sources of smoke caused by falling drone debris," Khabirov wrote, adding that there were no casualties and firefighters were working to extinguish the blazes.

Media reports said fires broke out at the refinery following the attack.

The refinery, owned by Gazprom Neft, has an annual crude-processing capacity of more than 7 million tons. It was targeted twice in September 2025 but continued operating without disruption afterwards, authorities said.

Meanwhile, authorities in Russia's Krasnodar region on the Black Sea reported a separate attack on a refinery near the settlement of Afipsky.

The facility caught fire, the regional crisis response headquarters said on Telegram. No further details on the extent of the damage were immediately available.

Ukraine has been intensifying attacks on Russia's oil infrastructure. The campaign has put increasing strain on the country's refining sector, with oil processing falling to its lowest level in more than two decades. Fuel shortages have left some filling stations without supplies, while others have imposed sales limits, forcing motorists to wait in long queues.
