Ukrainian drones have set fire to an oil refinery as well as another warehouse belonging to Russia's largest online retailer Wildberries in the southern Russian city of Volgograd, local authorities and the company said on Friday.

Volgograd Governor Andrei Bocharov confirmed the strikes on Telegram and said five people were injured. He said an apartment block and a private home in the city, formerly known as Stalingrad, were also damaged.

Regional authorities later said additional firefighting units had been deployed because of the size of the blaze. Wildberries confirmed that one of its warehouses had been hit.

Russia has been waging war against Ukraine for more than four years. In recent months, Ukraine has stepped up long-range drone attacks on targets inside Russia, focusing particularly on the country's oil industry.

Dozens of refineries and oil storage facilities have been targeted in an effort to disrupt fuel supplies for Russian forces and reduce the Kremlin's ability to finance the war.

Ukraine has also targeted warehouses operated by Wildberries over the past two weeks. Kiev says military goods, including drones, armour plates and fragmentation-resistant vests for Russian troops, are sold on the platform. Eleven Wildberries facilities have been fully or partially set on fire during that period.
