Vietnamese battery electric vehicle (BEV) manufacturer VinFast Auto has unveiled its smallest model yet, the VF2, which the company said was designed to make car ownership more accessible to consumers in its home market, while providing "a safe and comfortable alternative to motorcycles."

The battery-powered VF2 is a two-door, four-seater city car based on the company's Minio Green platform, measuring 3,090 mm in length, 1,496 mm in width, and 1,663.2 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,065 mm. The company pointed out that the car's "small agile design makes it well-suited for navigating narrow, congested city streets."

The VF2 is driven by a rear-mounted 30 kW electric motor, which provides a top speed of 80 km/h. It is powered by an 18.3 kWh battery pack, providing a driving range of up to 210 km on a full charge. It can be charged from 10% to 70% in 34 minutes using DC fast charging.

The VF2 features a 7-inch driver information display located behind the steering wheel, driver airbag, anti-lock braking (ABS) and traction control (TCS) systems, and an electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) system.

The VF2 is offered in two driving modes, Eco and Normal, with prices starting at VND 188 million (US 7,150), including the battery. VinFast said it will begin taking orders for the model on 15 July, with deliveries expected to begin in September.
