The 2026 OSAA high school spring sports season is at the finish line and several Salem-Keizer area athletes have closed their respective seasons with state championship hardware across multiple sports.

Every week, you get to vote for the Statesman Journal’s Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Maps Credit Union.

Here are the nominees for this week’s boys Athlete of the Week.

  • Vinny Arnold, North Marion track and field

  • Caden Druliner, Silverton track and field

  • JT Girod, Central baseball

  • Miles Lute, Crosshill Christian baseball

  • Calvin Stewart, South Salem track and field

  • Braxton Singleton, North Salem track and field

  • Creo Walker, Kennedy baseball

Athlete of the Week

Arnold, a senior, won the Class 4A javelin with a 185-foot, 6-inch toss May 30 at the OSAA state championships.

Miles Lute, Crosshill Christian track and field

Lute, a senior, pitched four innings and struck out six batters and posted a hit at the plate in the Eagles' 7-6 win over Umpqua Valley Christian June 2 in the OSAA Class 2A/1A state semifinals.

Stewart, a senior, finished second in the Class 6A high jump with a 6-8 1/4 clearance May 30 at the OSAA state championships.
