The 2026 OSAA high school spring sports season is at the finish line and several Salem-Keizer area athletes have closed their respective seasons with state championship hardware across multiple sports.

Every week, you get to vote for the Statesman Journal’s Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Maps Credit Union.

Here are the nominees for this week’s girls Athlete of the Week.

  • Addie Bishop, Regis softball

  • Makenna Burns, Cascade track and field

  • Madalynn Ehrens, Silverton track and field

  • Hadley Foster, Regis softball

  • Madelyn Miller, West Salem track and field

  • Harlow Nelson, Dallas track and field

Athlete of the Week

Bishop, a junior, pitched a full seven innings and struck out nine batters in the Rams' 9-1 win over Weston-McEwen June 2 in the OSAA 2A/1A state semifinals.

Burns, a junior, placed third in the Class 4A 100-meter hurdles in 15.89 seconds and sixth in the 300 hurdles in 48.12 May 30 at the OSAA state championships.

Silverton’s Madalynn Ehrens competes in the 5A girls shot put on the third day of the OSAA track and field state championships on May 30, 2026, at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

Ehrens, a junior, won the Class 5A shot put with a 37-foot, 7 1/4-inch throw May 30 at the OSAA state championships.

Regis’ Hadley Foster hits a double as the Regis Rams face the Heppner/Ione Mustangs in the OSAA 2A/1A softball title game on June 5, 2026 at Jane Sanders Stadium in Eugene, Oregon.

Foster, a senior, posted two hits and three RBIs June 2 in the Rams' 9-1 win over Weston-McEwen in the OSAA 2A/1A state semifinals.

West Salem’s Madelyn Miller throws in the 6A girls shot put on the third day of the OSAA track and field state championships on May 30, 2026, at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

Miller, a junior, placed fourth in the Class 6A shot put with a 36-1 1/4 toss and sixth in discus (109-6) May 30 at the OSAA state championships.
