Washington Commanders have Wes Welker now coaching tight ends
Wes Welker will be coaching the Commanders tight ends "moving forward," head coach Dan Quinn announced in a Tuesday press conference. While he didn't formally refer to Welker, an offensive assistant, with the title of tight ends coach, Quinn said that Welker will take over coaching the position group.
A change was necessary after the team dismissed Ben Steele on Monday. Per The Athletic's Nick Jhabvala, Steele was let go for violating team policy. The change came more than a month after Steele was arrested on suspicion. of DWI. Per Virginia court records, Steele has since been charged with DWI, refusal to submit to a field blood/breath test, obstruction/resisting arrest without force and changing course without a signal.
