Wesley suffers injury, could forfeit World Cup
Bad news for Wesley just days before the start of the World Cup, scheduled for June 11th to July 19th in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The Brazilian winger was injured during a friendly against Egypt. The 2003-born player was forced off the pitch after just 17 minutes.

Brazil won the friendly match against Egypt 2-1 at midnight (Italian time) thanks to goals from Bruno Guimaraes (7′) and Endrick (52′), with Abdelraouf (11′) temporarily equalizing the score.
The match, however, brought bad news for Ancelotti. Wesley, in fact, was forced off the pitch in the 17th minute due to an injury and burst into tears on the bench.
The 2003-born player was immediately consoled by his teammates, but with just days to go before the start of the World Cup, there are fears that the problem he suffered yesterday could prevent him from playing in the competition.

I think he’ll have time to recover and be with us at this World Cup. Otherwise, we’ll have to choose someone else, and we have time to do that. We’ll carry out the imaging tests. It’s urgent, it worries us. He’s an important player, he plays to the top of his game, with power. He’s learned a lot about the things he wasn’t so good at—defending, marking—now in Italy. I hope it’s nothing serious, that he receives the necessary treatment, and that he can continue with us on this journey. But I don’t deny that there’s urgency and concern; if it were to be something serious, it would be a shame.”
