What makes FC Tokyo so special
Soccer in the Heart of a Global City
With a population of around 37 million, the Tokyo metropolitan area is one of the largest metropolitan regions in the world. In the heart of this cosmopolitan city, FC Tokyo has established itself as one of the most popular soccer clubs in Japan. The club plays its home games at Ajinomoto Stadium, which seats just under 50,000 spectators. On match days, the club's blue-and-red colors dominate the cityscape around the stadium and have earned the club the nickname "Aoaka" (Japanese for blue-red). For this friendly match, however, the fourth-place team in the one-time transitional league "J1 100 Year Vision League" will host BVB at the National Stadium. One week after the match, FC Tokyo will kick off the new J1 League season against FC Machida Zelvia.
