Which Uniforms Have Been The Jaguars All-Time Best/Worst?

We are now smack dab in the middle of a dead zone when it comes to NFL news. OTAs and minicamps are over. We still have a few weeks to go before training camps start.

Perhaps a few of the high-profile free agents still available will find new teams for 2026 before training camps begin. Unless that happens, expect slow news cycles in the coming weeks.

However, sports journalism never stops. It's one of the true 24 hours a day/365 days a year professions.

So, what can I write about when there's not much going on?

Well, technically, Jacob Robinson and the staff of The Athletic are the fashion police. They put together a great piece where they chose the best and worst uniforms in the history of each of the 32 NFL teams. It's definitely worth a full read.

The Jacksonville Jaguars played their first NFL season in 1995. Over the course of its 31-year history, the team has rolled out several different uniform designs. Some have been winners and were a hit with the fans. Others, not so much.

Let's see what the good folks over at The Athletic think have been the Jaguars' best and worst uniforms over the years.

Jeff Howe was in charge at making the picks for the Jaguars.

For the best unis in team history, Howe went the original home uniforms.

Best: Debut home uniforms (1995-2008)

"These were perfectly ’90s with teal jerseys, but the look has had staying power. Their best threads over the years, including the recent incarnations, have all been a nod to the originals."

Howe believes Jacksonville got it right straight out of the gate. Unleashing the Black and Teal from day one, the Jaguars at least looked good while they went through the struggles of every expansion team.

Thanks to solid drafting and the hiring of Tom Coughlin as the franchise's inaugural head coach, Jacksonville was a playoff team in only its second year in the NFL.

While Jacksonville came into the league looking sharp, Howe acknowledges the team went through a phase where the uniforms took a big step backwards.

Worst: Blended hues (2013-2017)

"Thankfully, this was just a disappointing phase and not the start of a trend. The Jaguars tried to mix it up by blending in a golden hue with the midnight black helmets, and they doubled down by accentuating the gold — and an entire Color Rush getup — in the uniforms. The home look with the teal jerseys (and awful black shoulders), black pants and blended helmets were better suited for a slumber party than a football game. Blake Bortles deserved better."

I agree 100%.

When the Jaguars came into the NFL, I was only 14 years old.

While any new team in any sports league got me excited, I really took a liking to the Jacksonville Jaguars, mostly because of those uniforms.

All my childhood memories of Fred Taylor, Mark Brunell, Tony Boselli, and others dominating on the field include those awesome uniforms.

The blended hues are a forgettable chapter in the Jaguars' history. As Howe said, luckily, they were just a phase, and the team moved on to something much better.
