White Sox Minor League Update: July 5, 2026
Memphis Redbirds 2, Charlotte Knights 1Mason Adams was the bright spot and kept things on lockdown for five, scattering two hits, no walks, and a couple of punchouts. Then Wikelman González took the wheel and promptly got dinged for a run on two singles, a wild pitch, a sac fly, and Memphis was on the board. Charlotte (46-41) answered in the seventh when Mario Camilletti and Caden Connor coaxed walks, Nate Jones laid down a bunt, and Michael Turner’s sac fly dragged it back to 1-1. That’s where it froze for two-plus innings, so off to the Manfred circus. Both squads flailed in the 10th, but Memphis finally put Charlotte out of its misery in the 11th, cashing in the ghost runner with a walk-off single. The Knights’ bats? Three hits, a ghastly 0-for-11 with RISP, and not much else to write home about.

The game idled along until the sixth, when the Barons dropped a six-spot with a one-out single, a hit-by-pitch, a walk, and a wild pitch. Then Boston Smith uncorked his second three-run bomb of the year. Four singles in a row tacked on two more, and suddenly it was 6-1, Barons. Davis gave them four solid, just the one blemish on two hits, a walk, and five punchouts. The bullpen of Liam Paddack, Jarold Rosado, Jackson Kelley, and Jonathan Clark locked it down with five scoreless frames.

Ely Brown took a stroll, Ryan Burrowes ripped a triple, and Jeral Perez dropped a single for the opening salvo. Next inning, it was a parade of singles — Arxy Hernández, Nathan Archer, Brown again, and Burrowes — good for two more. The onslaught didn’t stop in the third as George Wolkow singled, then Kaleb Freeman uncorked his eighth bomb of the year, a two-run shot that made it 6-2. Freeman wasn’t done, either, as he went deep again in the fifth, this time solo, and Burrowes knocked in another with an RBI single in the sixth. The Drive managed a few tallies here and there, but never threatened to make this one interesting.

The 19-year-old Profar has been on the struggle bus since his ACL call-up, so this first bomb was a welcome sight. Kanny tacked on more in the fourth, thanks to a couple of free passes, an airmail from the infield, and a routine grounder. The Warbirds managed to get to starter Alexander Martinez for two, but only one was earned, trimming it to 5-2. Wilson scratched across a tally in the seventh, but the Ballers’ bullpen held steady for the final two frames.
