Of the 48 nations competing at the 2026 World Cup, 46 have now been eliminated.

From the first 16 to exit, 12 finished bottom of their respective groups.

The Czech Republic, Qatar, Haiti, Turkey, Curacao, Tunisia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan, Uzbekistan and Panama all finished as fourth-placed sides in the group.

Iran, South Korea, Scotland and Uruguay were also knocked out as the four third-placed sides with the worst records in the group stage.

South Africa, Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, Ivory Coast, Sweden, Ecuador, DR Congo, Senegal, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Austria, Cape Verde, Australia, Algeria and Ghana all departed after losing in the last 32.

Eight teams also exited in the last 16, with Canada, Paraguay, Brazil, Mexico, Portugal, the United States, Egypt and Colombia departing then.

Morocco, Belgium, Norway and Switzerland were the four nations to lose their matches in the quarter-finals.

France and England are the two latest sides to exit the tournament following semi-final defeats. However, they will now face each other in the third place play-off on Saturday night.

Their respective semi-final victors, Spain and Argentina, are the only two teams remaining and will play in the final on Sunday evening.
