Who Should be Named Captain in Every NHL Vacancy?

The 2026/27 National Hockey League season is almost upon us, and while things slowed down at points this summer, for the most part, it's been a chaotic off-season that's seen plenty of change around the league.

Whether that's trades, free agency, a chaotic draft or changes to the bench and behind the scenes, heading into a new campaign, the entire landscape of the league has shifted. We've also seen several changes in captaincy, with Connor Bedard, Drew Doughty, Bo Horvat and Robert Thomas all named captain of their respective teams, and on Tuesday, the Anaheim Ducks announced their replacement for Radko Gudas, naming Mikael Granlund as the latest captain of the organization.
