Why doesn’t Indian PM Modi hold unscripted press conferences?

The Indian government has defended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s continued refusal to hold press conferences, after a New Zealand reporter questioned Modi’s avoidance of the media on an official state visit. It’s the third such incident facing the PM in less than two months.
