Lawyers say nearly 2000 people across Devon and Cornwall have signed up to demand compensation from the local water company over sewage spills. The group legal claim wants South West Water held responsible for occasions when raw sewage discharges prevented people using the sea and deterred tourists from using local businesses. South West Water last year spilled sewage for more hours than any other English water company – more than 400,000 in total.
