Why Togo wants the world to redraw its maps

Togo has secured overwhelming support at the United Nations for a resolution promoting more geographically accurate world maps, challenging the widely used Mercator projection. The Mercator projection makes areas closer to the poles appear much larger while distorting the relative size of Africa and other regions.
