Fresh off a walk-off home run for William Contreras, his brother, Willson, has been linked to the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Brewers are no strangers to making a trade with the Boston Red Sox, but it seems like it'd be a little out of left field for Milwaukee to bring in William's older brother.

Willson Contreras is 34 years old but is fresh off an appearance in the Home Run Derby. His 22 home runs would immediately give this team an offensive boost, but it's not like this team has a lot of room for him with Andrew Vaughn and Jake Bauers covering first base.

In the midst of Bauers' career year and Vaughn's fight for consistent playing time, The Athletic has named Contreras a fit for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Cleveland Guardians, and Brewers.

Is Willson Contreras a good fit for the Brewers?

Together, Tim Britton, Johnny Flores Jr., Chad Jennings, and Eno Sarris came together to compile a list of 78 players that could be dealt at the deadline. They believe there's a shot the Red Sox move on from Contreras, but with their recent hot streak, they could soon become buyers, and these rumors would be forgotten about.

"Very little has gone as hoped for the Red Sox, but don’t blame Contreras for their disappointment," they wrote. "Acquired in an offseason trade, Contreras has, if anything, exceeded expectations. A three-time All-Star known for his bat, Contreras is on pace for the best year of his career at the plate, and his transformation from catcher to first base has yielded good grades on defense."

The Athletic noted that Contreras is "among the league leaders in wRC+ and could be one of the highest-WAR position players traded at the deadline."

Here in 2026, Contreras sports a 3.7 WAR. He's been as high as a 4.1 WAR player back when he was on the Brewers' greatest rival, the Chicago Cubs, back in 2021.

Contreras' brothers could create magic

With William as the catcher and Willson over at first base, one can only imagine what these brothers could do together. Contreras is guaranteed $17 million in 2027 and has a $20 million player option for 2028, or a $7.5 million buyout.

Seeing as William is owed $14.5 million with his club option in 2027, these two could get quite expensive together. It's not that the Brewers don't have the money, but they don't really have enough room for Willson unless they would move either Bauers or Vaughn, something that doesn't seem too realistic at this point in time.
