There's still something to be said for keeping in-state talent within state lines, and Wisconsin basketball has done just that with a talented guard from the class of 2027.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that four-star recruit Jalen Brown has committed to the Badgers. Brown averaged over 20 points, seven rebounds and six assists during his junior season at Wauwatosa West, and averaged just a shade under three steals per contest as well.

Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard said back in October that he was cognizant of the fine line between recruiting high school players and filling in the roster with experience, but admitted that there's a ton of talent in the 2027 class.

"It's as deep as it's been in a while," Gard said to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel about the 2027 class at that time. "We won't be able to take all of them if they all want to come."

With that said, Gard was clearly impressed by what Brown could become in a couple of years once he gets to Madison.

Wauwatosa West head coach Christopher Newbauer gave a scouting report of his star player to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

"They're getting a really good basketball player, but probably even a better person," Newbauer said. "Super awesome guy... They're getting a point guard or combo guard that sees the floor extremely well. He gets his teammates involved. He's a kid that can score on all three levels."
