NEW YORK – At about 3:40 p.m., the tarp came off the Yankee Stadium field.
It’s a dicey forecast Saturday night for Dodgers-Yankees, the middle game of a three-game set, with right-hander Emmet Sheehan (4-6, 4.81) vs. Yanks’ lefty Ryan Weathers (3-7, 4.15).

While the Yankees were in the process of losing, 2-1, to the Dodgers on Friday night, some important developments occurred at Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Max Fried (bone bruise, left elbow) made his first minor league rehab start, tossing 52 pitches and yielding two runs (0 walks, 3 Ks) in three innings vs. the Red Sox’s affiliate.
Shortstop prospect George Lombard Jr., just activated from the injured list (sprained fingers, left hand) went 2-for-3 with a walk and a home run.
Lombard has a chance to impact the Yankees before September, while Fried will make at least one more rehab start before rejoining the Yanks’ rotation.

Additionally, Carlos Rodon (left elbow inflammation) made 10 pitches off a mound on Friday, the precursor to his first bullpen session (yet to be scheduled).
And right-hander Clarke Schmidt threw one simulated inning Saturday, his first session vs. live batters since undergoing Tommy John surgery last summer.
Earlier Saturday, the Yankees signed right-hander Bradley Hanner to a big-league contract, optioned him to Triple-A, and transferred Aaron Judge (rib fracture) to the 60-day IL.
