Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday accused Russia of deliberately hunting civilians with drones in the city of Kherson after a video emerged on social media showing a small aerial vehicle attacking a man selling vegetables.

"Today, many were shocked by yet another video of the drone 'safari' Russians are carrying out against civilians in Kherson," Zelensky wrote on X.

He posted a video showing a drone approaching a man next to a white van with an awning and cardboard boxes stacked on the road. The drone follows the man, who runs around the van searching for a place to hide, before exploding next to him, leaving a large cloud of smoke.

The video appeared on a Telegram channel in Kherson and was later shared by the local police, although its origin remains unclear.

Ukrainian authorities said the man survived the attack with minor injuries.

The head of Kherson's military administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, shared a video of the victim recounting his story. Speaking from a hospital bed, the man says he tried to signal to the drone operator that he was only selling tomatoes and aubergines.

In the southern Kherson region, Ukrainian and Russian troops are facing off across the Dnipro River.

The regional capital, Kherson, lies within range of remote-controlled small drones, and there are repeated reports of targeted attacks on civilians.

"Every single day, ordinary people in Kherson face these Russian 'safaris'," Zelensky wrote.

He called for pressure to be increased on Moscow to end its full-scale invasion, now well into its fifth year. "This is not just about Ukraine," Zelensky wrote.

He said Russia's neighbours should work together to secure genuine security guarantees and bring an end to the war.
